Lymphedema is the chronic swelling or feeling of tightness in the body due to an accumulation of lymphatic fluid caused by a compromised lymphatic system. Lymphedema causes tiredness, fatigue, skin discoloration, weakness, numbness, and, in some cases, deformity and may be brought on by a variety of causes including genetics, mastectomy, lumpectomy, radiation therapy, pelvic surgery, and others. Thankfully, this condition can be managed through the use of compression garments, bandaging, and night garments.
